Mark Patterson
For the past 25 years, Mark Patterson has been creating jewelry recognized for its creativity, innovation and unsurpassed craftsmanship. In each piece he strives to achieve a balance between a beautiful gemstone and an elegant design, accentuating the beauty of each piece. To create a truly unique and timeless look, he begins with a traditional style and integrates innovative touches, resulting in a fusion between classic and modern.
Collaborating as a husband-and-wife team, Mark and Josette Patterson began their careers as jewelry designers in 1986, when they opened their firm in the heart of New York City’s diamond district. Mark had trained in traditional Swiss goldsmithing techniques, and Josette was a sculptor and painter. “My training as a goldsmith gave me the skills I needed to implement designs, but Josette had the vision. She has an artistic eye that has helped define our creations,” says Mark.
Known for his superb mastery of color, gemologist Mark seeks fine specimens of colored gemstones from around the world for his designs. Many of these pieces are one-of-a-kind. His “Intensity” collection features meticulously graduated tones of brilliant sapphires set into pendants, rings and earrings. It launched in the early 1990s and remains a signature, best-selling look today.
In 2010 the couple relocated from New York to Corona Del Mar, California to open a new studio and celebrate 25 years in business. All Mark Patterson jewelry is completely handcrafted in California.
Mark Patterson has been recognized as a Designer of the Year by Jewelers Quarterly magazine, the bible of industry trade publications. His designs are exclusive to Elleard Heffern in St. Louis and are sold at the finest luxury jewelers in the U.S., Europe and Middle East.
