Margery Hirschey is one of the rising stars in fine jewelry, having launched her eponymous collection in 2008. Trained as a fine artist and painter, she also worked at the house of famed couturier Charles Kleibacker, the “master of the bias,” before she began to create fine jewelry. This non-traditional entry into the business gives her an aesthetic that moves beyond the confines of what is traditionally considered fine jewelry. Nor does she want to abide by traditional standards.
Margery’s pieces are all one-of-a-kind, handcrafted from recycled 18- and 22-karat gold and sterling silver. Gemstones are all cut by hand. Their style reflects ancient times and techniques with a modern sensibility, and are understated, elegant and organic in design. Thoughtful asymmetry is a hallmark of her creations.
Her favorite gemstones are opals and moonstones for their play-of-color, and she personally prefers to wear antique or ethnic handmade jewels. Margery lives and works in Colorado, where her studio is located. Her jewelry is sold exclusively in St. Louis at Elleard Heffern Fine Jewelers.
